Position Purpose
The Maintenance Technician I perform machine operation, preventive maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and other physical structures in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications, and safety policies. Assists operators and higher-level technicians.
Major/Key Accountabilities
- Operate machinery to company standards, assisting Supervisor and operators for area.
- Locate, identify, and resolve any safety issues with mechanical or electrical devices.
- Proactively investigate needs, evaluate issues, and present/recommend alternatives to decrease overall facility operational downtime thus increasing operational effectiveness.
- Support existing and future projects during installations, start-up, and long-term operation.
- Support daily/weekly asset usage
- Assist in daily/weekly training with maintenance and operational personnel.
- Assist with special projects as directed by management.
- Continuously seeking to improve upon existing methods of operation, by research and development.
Measures

- Machine uptime and production.
Challenges
- Work schedule includes weekends.
- Working safely and efficiently under difficult circumstances and deadlines to make necessary quota and minor repairs to keep the lines running.
- Work environment is not climate controlled, and some areas are exposed to water from the machinery.
- Mechanical work includes climbing into machinery and being exposed to hot, steamy conditions.
- Daily work with chemicals and dust.
- Daily work includes altitude areas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Education or certifications in industrial electronics, welding, or wash systems is preferred.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in general maintenance machine operations, facility maintenance, and maintenance for high volume conveying systems, etc.
- Experience in/around: high volume conveying operations, water systems, large volume washers, motors, electrical, PLC controls.
- Previous experience with the following: welding, pipe installation/ repair, and heating/ boiler units preferred.
- Previous experience with general facility maintenance functions including doors, office, forklifts, etc.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solving skills.
- Ability to quickly interpret, analyze, and report issues with machines/facility components.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proven planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle high volume mechanical requirements.
- Demonstrated successes in handling multiple high priority projects, in addition to normal responsibilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
