Summary:
Required to perform all functions of plant maintenance. They are primarily responsible for the production equipment and preventive and predictive maintenance. Maintenance personnel maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve the processes related to the mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and the facilities of the production plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs shut down, start-ups and cleaning in place of equipment.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment.
Diagnose issues to prevent loss in efficiency and reliability to achieve scheduled production.
Monitor and adjust production flows, rates, temperatures, viscosity, and line pressure.
Ensure optimum machinery functionality for product quality.
Maintain accurate maintenance records.
Works closely with supervisors and maintenance personnel.
Complete pass down at the end of each shift.
Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
Performs preventive building maintenance duties and repairs including routine plumbing repairs, and routine electrical repairs.
Assist other Maintenance Technicians (breakdowns, line maintenance, equipment upgrades).
Ability and willingness to assist all departments in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the entire facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair. Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques. Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skill in reading and following blueprints and assembly instructions. Skills in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. Skill in using hand and power tools. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Education/Experience:
High School diploma or GED and one (1) year building maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and understand technical procedures. Ability to describe and write, in detail, any work performed. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the department supervisor or manager.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and use a fractional tape measure.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
