Job Title: Maintenance Technician for food manufacturing warehouse
Schedule: Monday-Friday weekends and OT as needed
Type: Full Time, Year Round, Temp to Hire
Location: Azusa CA
Pay Rate: $22 to $30 DOE
General Purpose: The Maintenance Technician performs maintenance and repair services in multiple areas. This position will maintain utilities equipment which supplies electricity, steam, heat, air conditioning, compressed air, or ventilation. The main purpose of this role is to support Operations to ensure the equipment is operating at desired capacity and producing Food Safe and Quality products to meet Customer and Regulatory requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Locate, diagnose, and repair any problem causing equipment downtime or unsatisfactory equipment performance.
· Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
· Perform work with minimum downtime and interference with operations.
· Perform both unscheduled and scheduled work as well as preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment to help achieve a goal of zero downtime and one hundred percent efficiency.
· Maintain the Premaintenance records for inspections by outside sources.
· Work to develop and maintain accurate parts inventory levels.
· Complete changeovers and overhauls on all packaging/handling and processing machinery/equipment.
· Make repairs and adjustments to conveyors, gear boxes, motors, and any support equipment such as tape machines, portable equipment, conveyors, dump hoppers, etc.
· Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot various systems throughout the plant i.e.: water, steam, air- and water-cooling systems and associated pumps and valves etc.
· Adhere to and correct GMP discrepancies.
· Interact with contractors, plant personnel, and maintenance supervision.
· Assist in other maintenance areas as directed or needed.
· Inspects the building, grounds, and equipment such as the solar farm.
· Assist with installation of new equipment without compromising Food Safety.
· Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.
· Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.
· Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
· Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues.
· Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive.
· Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
· Exhibit the values and ethics through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED preferred.
· Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background, and criminal checks.
· Minimum one year’s experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
· Minimum one year’s experience with a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment.
· Minimum one year experience with one or more technical experience: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC and/or HVAC.
· Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Must be able to handle basic hand tools. Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift; occasionally required to climb or balance. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to work in a cold/hot humid environment with moderate to high noise volume.
· May experience some exposure to fumes airborne particles, chemicals, or allergens.
· Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays if needed.
· Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
· Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
· Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
· Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
· Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.
