POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician (MTECH) will work closely with the Executive Director of Emergency Management, Safety, Security, and Operations in planning campus projects, determining work schedules, and helping ensure overall departmental costs remain as low as possible. In addition to these managerial tasks, the MTECH will perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of main campus/clinic building and grounds a necessary. Work will also include in a wide range of trade areas including plumbing, painting/sheetrock patches, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, general building maintenance, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repair. As needed, the maintenance tech will provide oversight to contractors and outside vendors.
A key responsibility of this position is also to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to students, staff and other members of the university community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with the Executive Director of Emergency Management, Safety, Security, and Operations and communicate daily all needs and progress of short term-long term tasks to ensure a positive flow of information and maintain a clear direction for the department. 35%
Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair; documenting and making recommendations on an established check sheet. 10%
Perform minor electrical maintenance, plumbing maintenance, painting, carpentry, and masonry work to include, but not limited to, replacement preventative maintenance/cleaning, and/or repair. Perform all work in accordance with established departmental/university and industry standards. 15%
Maintain clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, parking lots, and other work areas. Responsible for cleaning supplies stock/inventory. Responsible for all POA copiers/repairs, toner, paper, point of contact. 10%
Complete assigned work orders, records, logs, and other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures. Responsible for daily preventative maintenance log. Communicate within university community using email in addition to face to face communication. 20%
Oversee 2-4 work study student worker positions. Oversee cleaning services/report any issues. 10%

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Required: High school diploma/G.E.D, or equivalent experience; Valid Driver license; 3-5 years in facilities industry or equivalent combination of experience and education; General maintenance and repair experience; Able to lift 75 lbs. and perform multiple physical exertion tasks daily.
Preferred: Fire/security/hazard blood borne pathogen; OSHA 30 cert, OFSMA Certification or something similar, valid drivers license; 8+ years in university/college facilities/operation department
