Job Description
RESPOND, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Tech provides custodial duties, as well as conducts general maintenance and repairs to Respond’s various buildings, and Child Development Centers. This is a full time, hourly position, 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday through Friday, with some weekend hours as needed to address emergecy situations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- On a rotating schedule, perform custodian duties, including but not limited to trash removal, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping floors, and painting
- Responsible for the completion of assigned maintenance service requests in a timely manner
- Maintain inventory lists for cleaning and maintenance supplies
- Complete daily inspection of property during your walks and notify Managers of any issues
- Maintain the upkeep of grounds, amenities, building exteriors and offices, parking lots and other common areas
- Assist custodian team with snow removal and landscaping
- Replace, repair or adjust locks, cylinders, latches, door checks, springs knobs, hinges and window blinds
- Install, replace, repair or adjust receptacles, plates, sockets, switches, and lighting fixtures
- Install, replace, repair or adjust speedy connectors, washers, faucets, cartridges, flush meter, other plumbing parts, toilet seats, toilet hardware
- Install smoke alarms and any other fire safety devices
- Grout and replace wall tiles
- Clear local waste line and drain stoppages
- Clean filters for HVAC
- Check and report leaks, damage, debris and security issues
- Complete any other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Must possess basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and electric work
- Flush out and properly drain water heaters
- Knowledge of framing, drywall, sanding, spackling, and paint
- Ability to troubleshoot general building issues
- Responsible for answering emergency calls
- Dependable, responsive, and professional-pays attention to detail, excellent customer services skills, ability to work working alone and as part of a team.
- Must be computer literate
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years experience as Maintenance Tech and/or Handyman.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Required: criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
Compensation:
- Rate is $17.00 to $19.00 per hour commensurate with experience

Physical Requirements:
- Continuously required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Regularly lift and /or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat throughout the day as necessary.
