Job Description
Reporting to the Coordinator of Maintenance Mechanic in coordination with the Area Coordinator and Residence Supervisors:
Specific duties include the following but are not limited to:
- Must have basic knowledge of OPWDD safety codes.
- Must have basic computer skills and the ability to perform basic math computations and measurements.
- Must be able to formulate a "Scope of Work" for small projects.
- Must be able to read and comprehend bids from outside vendors.
- As necessary, must assist the Residence Supervisors in obtaining bids.
- Must accurately communicate information with vendors and agency staff.
- Must have experience in carpentry and woodworking.
- Patch/repair and or install new drywall.
- Realign doors and frames.
- Install new door hardware.
- Design, build and install shelving units and bookcases.
- Install and/or repair wood moldings.
- Repair broken drawers and doors on cabinets and/or dressers.
Requirements:
- Must successfully complete the Maintenance Mechanic training program, or be deemed to possess the aforementioned competencies to accomplish the job.
- Must be an employee in good standing (not have been placed on a final written warning within the past nine months).
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be current in all Agency training requirements (CPR/AED, First Aid, SCIP, Defensive Driving, Van Driving)
- Must have time management skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments based on the overall needs.
- Physical requirements include, but are not limited to: squatting, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling.
- Must be able to travel between facilities during work day.
- Must be able to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those whom he/she comes into contact in the course of work assignments.
- Must be self-directed i.e. identify environmental concerns and recommend viable solutions.
- Must be able to train maintenance workers on minor repairs as appropriate.
- Must be able to withstand working conditions which may include working in inclement weather and varied weather conditions if necessary.
- Must be able to provide relief and emergency coverage for maintenance workers.
