Job Title:Maintenance Mechanic
Reports To: Maintenance Foreman / Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Supervisor Responsibilities: No – Individual Contributor
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Foreman or Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic completes work orders and/or shift assignments for reactive and preventative maintenance on various items throughout the plant.
Job Responsibilities:
- Must be able to install, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and systems, involving work of a varied nature with minimal supervision.
- Ability to plan and perform all mechanical operations necessary to modify, dismantle, repair, overhaul and rebuild all types of complicated plant machinery, equipment and systems requiring a high degree of accuracy.
- Install, repair, and maintain all plant equipment to required tolerances.
- Perform the work of trades such as machinist or welder, plan lay out of complicated work.
- Have working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical applications and be able to read, write and analyze prints and sketches.
- Adhere to all company safety policies including the use of proper PPE.
- All other duties as assigned by the foreman / manager.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of various mechanical applications with the ability to read, write and analyze prints and/or sketches.
- Must have excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Strong time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
Qualifications:
- 2 years' experience in a mechanically inclined position.
- High School Diploma or GED required. Consideration given to candidates with experience in lieu of education.
- Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
- Certificates from BOCES or MACNY are preferred.
Job Type: Full-time – 8 Hour Shift. Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturday overtime may be assigned.
Salary: Labor Grade 19-M: $26.87 – 29.55 / Hour.
