Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, with assistance and guidance from a Maintenance Mechanic II, performs a variety of semi-skilled general trade or craft areas of repair, maintenance, construction, alterations and operation of the hospital grounds, structures, and related equipment and systems.
Must be a self-starter able to work independently from written or oral instructions. Required to be available to work after normal hours, weekends and holidays to meet emergency, winter snow removal and seasonal job demands.
What You Will Do:
- Maintains and cares for the hospitals structures, grounds, systems, and related equipment inside and out. This includes (but is not limited to): wall and surface repair and preparation, painting, repair of lights, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, maintain medical gases, safe disposal of infectious waste.
- Coordinates or performs preventative maintenance inspections as directed on related equipment.
- Maintains and cares for the hospitals structures, grounds, systems, and related equipment inside and out. This includes (but is not limited to): wall and surface repair and preparation, painting, repair of lights, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, maintain medical gases, safe disposal of infectious waste.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
- Education:High School diploma or the equivalent.
- Note: Completion of an accredited trade or vocational school with courses in mathematics, blue print reading and mechanical drawing preferred.
- Experience: Two (2) years of general maintenance experience. This experience may have included: Soldering and brazing; arc and oxygen/acetylene welding; equipment and operation of plumbing and HVAC systems; sanitation, refrigeration, electrical systems.
- Two (2) years of general maintenance experience. This experience may have included: Soldering and brazing; arc and oxygen/acetylene welding; equipment and operation of plumbing and HVAC systems; sanitation, refrigeration, electrical systems.
- Certification(s): Valid Alaska Driver's License at time of appointment and for continued employment.
Please note: In lieu of fringe benefits, casual employees receive a $2 an hour casual differential in addition to their hourly base rate of payCasual employees will not be scheduled to work a full time schedule for more than four (4) consecutive months or more than 780 hours annually. Casual employees must work a minimum of one (1) shift within a 90 day period to maintain status and employment.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
