Job Title Maintenance Mechanic (2nd Shift), Facility Operations & Planning - N21079N1 Full-time or Part-time? Full Time Position Summary Information
Job Summary The University of Southern Indiana is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic. This second shift (Monday through Friday, 3:00pm to 11:00pm) position is responsible for performing skilled labor involving general maintenance tasks including rough and finish carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, and/or mechanical work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Tend to the University's preventative and general maintenance needs
Perform electrical repairs and other needed electrical work
Work from blueprints, drawings, work orders, or oral instructions to construct and repair University assets
Plan and execute basic building maintenance and renovation projects
Assemble furniture, seats, and other equipment
Set up furniture and equipment for special and academic events
Repair and/or install windows, doors, partitions, coiling components, floor tiles, cove base, stair treads, wall coverings, roofs, carpet squares, handrails, and shelves
Perform hand and bench work in the various maintenance shops
Perform carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks related to maintenance, repairs, rehabilitation, and construction projects for buildings, equipment, and systems
Perform snow removal and paving work as needed
Position requirements include:
High school diploma/ GED
Vocational training and/or experience in a trade such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, and/or heating and air conditioning required
Valid driver's license
Knowledge of microcomputers, word processing, spreadsheet, and electronic mail software required

This position requires ongoing physical access to departments and facilities throughout the University for extended periods of time.
This position requires frequent independent physical manipulation of loads of 20 to 60 pounds for extended periods of time, and occasional independent physical manipulation of loads up to 100 pounds.
Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00pm to 11:00pm. Occasional irregular hours or overtime may be required to complete work orders. This position is considered essential; when the University closes due to inclement weather or another emergency, this position is required to report to work to perform snow and/or ice removal or other clean-up work following severe weather or other emergencies.
