Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Overview:
We are a multi-generation, family run business with over 100 years of experience in manufacturing and distribution of blended sugars and distribution of blended sugars and products.
Job Summary:
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery.
Schedule:COS (Continuous Operating Schedule) working 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. for 4 consecutive days and then have 4 days off. Facility specific training would be provided on a straight day position of 8am – 4pm Mon – Fri.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines. Records pm work daily.
· Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
· Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
· Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
· Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
· Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
· Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
· Prepares reports documenting work performed.
· Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
· Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
· Collaborates with product manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
· Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Mechanically and electrically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
· Knowledgeable in 480-volt motors and starters.
· PLC knowledge a plus.
· Works well independently and with others.
· Good communication skills.
· Organized with attention to detail.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
· Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods standing and walking.
· Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights.
· Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
· Must be able to visually inspect machines.
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Minimum Requirements:
1. Pass plant mechanic test
2. Able to climb to top of silos, etc
3. Have mechanical experience in industrial mechanics
4. Able to read blue prints
5. Have welding experience
6. Able to gas weld and cut
7. Industrial electrical knowledge
8. PLC knowledge a plus
9. Willing to work all shifts as needed
10. Have own hand tools
11. Willing to work overtime as needed
12. Able to work alone
13. Able to work on mobile equipment
14. Willing to work outdoors (BAD WEATHER)
15. Follow directions
16. Willing to make decisions
17. Some computer skills
