WORK SCHEDULE

This regular full-time position works year around (12 months). The work is performed on campus. ­The nature of the duties may require occasional night and/or weekend events/work which may lengthen or shorten each workday individually.

Post Covid-19, in support of the students and faculty, all positions have returned to in-person work, therefore no hybrid or remote work is available. The school has a mandatory Covid-19 Vaccination Policy and all new employees must submit proof of their Covid-19 vaccination and booster vaccine at the time their employment commences.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for school campus maintenance and upkeep of facilities and grounds. This includes inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results. Supervises and coordinates a team of 10+ employees and all work performed by maintenance and custodial employees ensuring compliance with school policies and practices for safety, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the following:

Principal Duties:

  • Facilitates maintenance of all physical operation and equipment for the plan/campus including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, tiling, carpeting, blinds, and window coating for all rooms on campus.
  • Fields daily maintenance requests from the faculty and staff members regarding specific facility and maintenance needs, typically using School Dude but may also respond to more urgent issues outside of the ticketing system.
  • Oversees the irrigation system and all landscaping plans.
  • Conducts routine inspection of buildings for maintenance and custodial services.
  • Classroom set-up
  • Supervises and inspects the improvement and renovation work performed by outside contracts and verifies terms of all such contracts have been fulfilled.
  • Works closely with Sr. Director of Facilities Management to meet operating and capital budgets including annual, long-term, and project budgets. Responsible for cost and budget control, maintain records of all expenditures and provide regular, periodic reports as requested.
  • Works to maintain, monitor and report all required environmental, health, and maintenance standards as required by law.
  • Manages and maintains all electrical panels campus-wide.
  • Manages all fire alarm panels and oversees the maintenance of all fire-related equipment in concert with local fire department inspections.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support for the maintenance, groundkeepers, and custodial staff.
  • Daily scheduling, overtime management, and timecard review and approval.
  • Conducts weekly safety meetings including discussions of MSDS sheets, and reports worker's compensation accidents immediately.
  • Advises and/or responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis as needed.
  • Manages, coordinates, and oversees facilities needs during the school day as well as during academic events and/or special events or activities.
  • Performs other duties as required for the operations of the school.

Purchasing

  • Maintain an adequate inventory of all necessary supplies and parts.
  • Responsible for purchasing of equipment and supplies for maintenance, grounds, and custodial areas.
  • Oversee all equipment maintenance and purchase of replacement or additional equipment or machines i.e. HVAC systems, kitchen and bathroom appliances, water fountains etc.
  • Responsible for purchasing classroom furniture as requested and approved.

Project Management

  • Serve as a project manager for all construction projects on campus.
  • Assist with obtaining and reviewing proposals for capital improvement projects.
  • Lead presenter at facilities meetings

CUSTOMER SERVICE & COMMUNICATION

Ensure the Loyola High School mission and philosophy are followed in all matters of customer service and communication, both inside and outside the community. Communicates clearly and promptly to all requests for services that fall under his/her purview.

EDUCATION, SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a facilities/maintenance department plus 3-5 years managing a department of 10 or more employees
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership skills sufficient to supervise and manage a large team of direct reports in the departments of groundskeepers, custodians, and maintenance workers.
  • Knowledgeable with computers, and aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • Possess the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Have a calming demeanor, a high degree of integrity and confidentiality, be well organized, routinely practice sound judgment, and demonstrate the ability to multi-task with projects of varying degrees of priority.
  • Ability to respond promptly and professionally to all requests for service under his/her purview.
  • Demonstrate talent for servant leadership and be highly skilled in flexibility and resiliency.
  • Be highly self-motivated and work well alone as well as with a team.

PHYSICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to travel between campus locations existing on 23 acres; the ability to sit, stand, squat, bend, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 - 50 pounds, and occasionally transport larger, bulkier, or heavier weights with sound judgment, asking for help when necessary. Requires excellent hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to operate a radio, and computer keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information.
