Maintenance Assistant

Qualifications: Must have a minimum of a high school education, must be 21 years of age and be a highly responsible and motivated individual with minimum two years of professionally demonstrated experience in general home maintenance and repairs. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Must have ability to travel to various job sites via company vehicle.

Experience with a Maintenance Help Desk Software system a plus, but not required.

Job Purpose: Assists Maintenance Director in performance of general maintenance at Our House, Inc. community residences, properties, and office. Maintains residences and properties to meet agency and community standards. The Maintenance Assistant is an essential employee in case of emergency or inclement weather.

Essential Functions

• Assists Maintenance Director in performance of duties. Reports any maintenance or repair needs observed to supervisor.
• Maintains grounds at community residences utilizing agency tools and equipment according to guidelines and directions from supervisor.
• Performs maintenance and repairs at community residences and office as assigned by supervisor including, but not limited to the following: interior/exterior painting, carpet cleaning and shampooing, lock repair and replacement, light bulb replacement, cleaning of gutters, replacement of air conditioning/heating filters, moving furniture, hanging décor, replacing appliances, etc.
• Completes daily maintenance log.
• Deliver and pick-up Agency vehicles for repairs and recalls as needed. Install and remove vehicle GPS trackers as needed.

Travel Requirements

• Travel required via agency vehicle within 5 local NJ counties, approximately 90%.
