We are seeking a part time driver to transport elderly residents to appointments and activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including, but are not limited to the following:
- Must be comfortable working with elderly, Alzheimer's, and residents with dementia
- Maintain a schedule for the company vehicle.
- Drive the company Bus and Van for resident activities and appointments.
- Provide transportation for resident specific dental, hearing, vision, or diagnostic testing appointments.
- Assist residents into the office, and assure that medical forms from the facility go to the medical provider and back to the nurse, following the appointment.
- Accompany residents on shopping trips and provide assistance as needed.
- Purchase, as directed by supervisor or the Executive Director, any special needs that can be accomplished on trips made during the day.
- Develop and recommend policies and procedures for proper vehicle maintenance.
- Accept on-call responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor to ensure smooth operation of the program and to meet residents’ needs.
- Light Maintenance: changing light bulbs, batteries in smoke detectors and thermostats, etc.
Experience:
- Previous experience in paratransit, school bus driving, or commercial driving is preferred
- Ability to maintain a clean driving record
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects as needed
Working Behaviors: Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures. Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors. Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations and personnel. Promote the facility/property in a positive way. Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
Knowledge Expectations: Safe operation of company vehicles. Proper maintenance of motor vehicle.
Qualifications: Experience and interest in working with older adults. Mature, pleasant, friendly and cheerful personality. Clean driving record (verified MVR) and willingness to drive company vehicle to transport residents.
Standards: Residents always come first, and their needs will be met unless there is a conflict with needs of others and the needs of the organization as a whole. Employees will not work under the influence of mood altering or illegal drugs or alcohol. Neat appearance, adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene are expected.
