OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
The Apprentice/Entry Level Mechanic will perform a majority of equipment PMs. As a key member of the Maintenance Department, he will have the opportunity to learn the roles and responsibilities of an industrial mechanic while contributing to a dynamic and growing organization. The Apprentice/Entry Level Mechanic will primarily be responsible to perform equipment PMs, learn from other mechanics, and develop an understanding of how to troubleshoot and make repairs to equipment in a food service industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn cGMP/GMP.
- Learn how to perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
- Assist and learn from mechanics as they trouble-shoot and diagnose mechanical or electrical issues.
- Learn to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control problems using manuals, drawings, and schematics.
- Learn how to troubleshoot equipment and perform repairs.
- Learn how to identify and change out motors.
- Learn how to perform troubleshooting and make repairs to hydraulic, pneumatic.
- Learn how to identify broken or worn components in machines.
- Learn how to perform stick, MIG and TIG welding.
- Learn how to perform machining operations using a lathe, Bridgeport, or drill press.
- Follow guidance and direction from more experienced mechanics in all aspects of maintenance.
- Follow all established safety rules and regulations and utilize required safety equipment.
- Learn how to identify defective equipment or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
- Learn the proper use of hand and power tools.
- Work with other mechanics to accomplish shift objectives and projects as directed.
- Take direction from the Maintenance Shift Supervisor and Maintenance Manager.
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Valid US Driver's License required
- Familiarity with cGMP/GMP.
- Must possess good time management and organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, work well in a team setting with other technicians and trades professionals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The below physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Regularly required to talk and hear
- Must have good vision and manual dexterity
- Ability to lift 75 pounds,
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, perform repetitive motions, see variations in color, climb and work from ladders.

- Exposure to approx. 85 decibel sound while on plant floor (appropriate ear protection will be provided)
- Required availability to work weekends and overtime as necessary to complete projects and installs.
- Exposure to cold temperatures while on the production floor and in other parts of the building
- Company provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn while on the production floor
