Located in Northlake IL, Bluewater Thermal Solutions, Inc. is a financially stable, well managed and steadily growing company that has provided Heat Treating services for over thirty-five (35) years. Our Chicago metro area business receives metal components from major US manufacturers and processes these components in our facility. Our three (3) shift facility operates furnaces with electrical controls, hoists and other production equipment that require periodic inspection, maintenance and repair.
This job role is a member of our plant maintenance team and it reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Our opportunity could offer the successful candidate the chance to learn plant maintenance procedures and processes in a heavy manufacturing environment. The position will make your work, attendance and ability to follow instructions very visible throughout the plant. This visibility of your work could lead to career advancement in our network of nine (9) plant sites.

Primary Responsibilities
The Maintenance assistant will be responsible in a hands-on effort in our plant so support maintenance procedures, inspections and assisting and learning repair, preventive maintenance and installation of machines and equipment.
From time to time the Maintenance Assistant may be assigned to perform general repairs and/or rebuilding of production equipment, associated support equipment, and minor repairs to the physical building itself.
At times you will file maintenance reports and statistics. Inspects operating equipment for conformance with operation standards. Ensures safe response to power outages
You should expect to work with close supervision on most work orders that are assigned to you. As your performance progresses you may receive less supervision.
Physical demands in the work environment
· Physical Demands: Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
· Must have good vision, corrected/uncorrected, for precise reading of equipment blueprints equipment manuals and testing instruments
· May be exposed to heat, noise, humidity, fumes.
· Must be able to work overtime, any shift and any day of the week.
· Must be able to obtain and maintain status of certified forklift operator.
· Required PPE; Steel toed boots, safety glasses and hearing protection required in all shop work areas.
Qualifications:
· Education: Associate degree (A. S.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience: at least one year of experience in heat treating, thermal processing or a related manufacturing field in a production plant environment.
· Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English language. Spanish language capability is not a requirement but it could be helpful
· Must have experience with welding, cutting, brazing, and working knowledge of electricity. If you have some knowledge of hydraulics and furnaces and are able to read blueprints that could make you an outstanding candidate. Even if this knowledge was gained through a technical school education you should apply.
· Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, be detail oriented and possess manual dexterity.
Desired Experience/Skills:
· One to three years’ experience in manufacturing, thermal processing or related field in a technical position where maintenance up time is a critical skill
· Must have general knowledge of production systems and materials in a production plant .
· Be willing to participate in technical training courses requested or recommended by the Company.
· Ability to read and interpret heat treatment specifications as supplied by the customer and/or Company Engineering.
· Must be able to work overtime, any shift and any day of the week as the maintenance situation demands
· Must be able to obtain and maintain status of certified forklift operator
· Desired Experience/Skills: Have a previous heavy machinery maintenance experience, a good general knowledge of firefighting procedures.
