GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision, primary purpose is to manage, direct and lead all shifts of Maintenance / Tool & Die departments. Position provides direction to assigned supervisors and hourly team members to ensure that plant manufacturing is fully supported by these groups. Primary input to hiring, training and motivating a multi disciplined staff to meet corporate and plant goals in the areas of employee morale, budgets, productivity, cost savings, safety, environmental and planned maintenance / tooling, while maintaining a positive company image within the community.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Participate in meetings involving the daily and future operations of the plant including scrap, cost savings, design, staff, planning, budget, environmental, planned maintenance, etc.).
- Provide assistance to staff in establishing and determining projects that will ensure improvements in tooling and equipment operations.
- Set, approve and monitor departmental budgets including monitoring overtime across all shifts.
- Set approve and monitor all repair and maintenance budgets.
- Work with contractors and Tooling/equipment suppliers to determine work to be performed as well as QCD of said work.
- Oversee and direct the cost savings activities in Plant Engineering for tooling, equipment, and facilities
- Provide guidance for the plant facility needs which includes the warehouse dock locks, restrooms, electrical, heating / air, etc...
- Future planning for all Maintenance and Tooling skilled trades.
- Troubleshooting problem areas within the company focusing primarily on tooling, equipment, and facility issues and implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Provide guidance and direction to supervisors in the area of training (includes supervisors and skilled trades technicians).
- Manage the development, implementation, and measurement of PM and TPM programs for manufacturing equipment.
- Analyze downtime and prepare departmental reports for PBM.
- Responsible for assisting staff when there is a critical need in the maintenance / tooling support role.
- Communicates frequently with internal and external contacts on various issues.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Requires an Advanced Degree in related discipline and four (4) plus years of experience in related field
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline and five (5) plus years of experience in related field
- Associates Degree in related discipline and seven (7) plus years of experience in related field
- Non- Degreed with nine (9) plus years of experience in a related field.
- Certification or license required in some areas.
- Have experience working with integrated computer programs and/or applications.
- Have working knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems.
- Have strong communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.
- Be able to pass all background checks and pre- employment tests, including any required drug test.
- Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.
