MADISON CONSOLIDATED SCHOOLS

Position Title: Maintenance, General

Reports to: Director of Facilities and Special Projects

FLSA: Non-exempt

Summary of the position: Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance

and repair procedures for MCS buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems.

Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent. Experience working or licensed

in HVAC, Electrical and/or Plumbing skill trades.

Supervises: None

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include the following. Other duties may be

assigned).

● Reports all facility damage and any suspected or known thefts, break-ins, etc.,

immediately to the Director of Safety and Security; all other administrators as

applicable.

● When directed, assists with regular custodial duties.

● Responsible for lining all sports fields for practices and athletic events as work

load permits.

● Inspects all playground and equipment, reporting to the Director Facilities and

Special Projects any deficiencies.

● Dependable coming to work as scheduled. Reports absences promptly.

● Successfully completes all in-service training required for the position within

timelines and participates in all other training as assigned.

● Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment

on a scheduled basis.

● Cleans and inspects boiler; treats water with proper chemicals.

● Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems.

● Repairs plumbing, sewage, electrical, and structural components of school

physical plants.

● Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment

maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance

procedures including Jr. High swimming pool..

● Ability to operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment

and utility systems.

● Installs electrical wiring and equipment, new electrical services, wiring during

remodeling projects, replaces and repairs wiring as needed.

● Repairs electrical equipment and control circuits; replaces faulty electrical

switches, repairs refrigeration equipment.

● May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security.

● May assist with the installation of computer cable.

● Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.

● Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.

● May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts, orders parts as needed.

● Maintains assigned vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring

availability in safe operating condition.

● Promotes good public relations for the School Corporation and community.

● Must have a valid driver’s license and capable of getting a commercial driver’s

license.

● Other duties as assigned.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 -50 pounds and occasionally lift

and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include

close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust

focus.
