The Lead Technician - Maintenance is responsible for leading the coordination of maintenance resources to provide first line support to production processes. The scope of this role starts with the initial Operations escalation to the successful completion, RFU and return to operations.  This position requires expertise in multiple production processes and equipment, CMMS (GMARS), as well as a foundational knowledge in multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical / instrumentation. and automation). The Lead Technician will ensure that equipment is efficiently returned to a qualified state, can be operated safely, and maintenance is properly performed on the systems.

Key Objectives / Deliverables:

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, leading safety initiatives, and working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
  • Own the break / fix response for the equipment in the process / plant / site including performing maintenance.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
  • Coordinate Maintenance resources to resolves issues
  • Partner with operations to escalate as needed to drive resolution per the escalation model
  • Initiate Work Orders as needed to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Create maintenance action plans (MAPS) and HOLDs as needed to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Mentor front line resources in maintenance execution.
  • Support Preventive Maintenance (PM) execution.
  • Find and eliminate safety issues with the equipment and processes.
  • Perform safety reviews and audits.
  • Perform activities in accordance with cGMPs and applicable procedures.
  • Understand the production process and critical process parameters.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality by assuring maintenance is performed appropriately.
  • Attend and participate in start of shift / huddle meetings. 
  • Transferring knowledge of equipment capabilities and operational techniques to operators, engineering, and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of IPM - Operations Maintenance / Line Shop experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant manufacturing or maintenance experience
  • Expertise in multiple production processes and equipment, CMMS (GMARS), as well as a foundational knowledge in multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical / instrumentation and automation).
  • Experience in equipment maintenance and equipment / process troubleshooting skills.
  • Completion of Post Offer Exam, or completion of Work Simulation if applicable.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

Additional Preferences:

  • 3 + years of IPM - Operations Maintenance / Line Shop experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a participative environment
  • Knowledge of parenteral equipment and manufacturing operations
  • Demonstrated influential leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and communications skills with a customer service attitude
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • HOLD / MAP knowledge
  • Change control and observation investigation experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

Education Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in engineering or associated field or equivalent experience

Other Information:

  • 12 hour shifts on nights – 3-2-2-3, overtime will be required.
  • Applicant will work in various areas within the parenteral plant.  Some allergens are present in the parenteral plant. Mobility requirements and exposure to allergens should be considered when applying for this position.
  • Minimal travel required.
