Job Description
Machinist II Responsibilities
- Machine parts to specifications using equipment such as power saws, mill, lathe, drills, and grinders.
- work with Machinist III & IV to develop and optimize complex or production operations.
- Generate basic programs for CNC equipment such as cutting stock on water jet or generating soft jaws for CNC mills
- Set up, adjust and operate all typical machining tools including CNC equipment.
- Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
- Select and monitor speed and feed rates during the machining process
- Layout, measure, and prepare stock for part manufacture
- Interpret engineering drawings and specification to ensure proper fabrication of product
- Fabricate, repair, and assemble plastic/metal parts with the operation of mechanical equipment
- Use standard hand and power tools to assemble parts into subassemblies and products
- Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment to maintain proper working operation
- Use standard inspection equipment to confirm that parts conform to supplied drawings or requirements
- Train and conform to company procedures, including maintaining and drafting machine shop operational procedures and practices
- Maintain inventory of shop supplies and materials
Machinist II Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- Minimum of 3 years machining experience required
- Accredited trade school diploma may be substituted for years of experience.
- Experience using basic hand tools and inspection equipment required.
- Familiar with ISO Standards and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Operation of the following equipment:
- Vertical Mill
- CNC Mill (Preferred Haas)
- Lathe
- Drill Press
- Bandsaw
- Table saw
- Pedestal grinder
- Thorough knowledge of machinery that performs threading, deburring, lapping, polishing, etc.
- Able to interpret basic engineering drawings and requirements
- Thorough knowledge of Operation of measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators
- Basic materials knowledge for typical plastics and metals
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate ideas both.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software preferred.
- Knowledge of GD&T preferred.
