MACHINIST
FAA Covered position
Role Summary/Purpose:
Set up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically controlled machine tools such as lathes, VTI, milling machines, and grinders to repair or overhaul aviation components using approved technical data and applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Read blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files
- Set up and operate manual, automatic, and/or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools
- Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines
- Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specifications
- Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects
- Work with engineering on modification of repairs or new repairs
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications / Skills:
- High school diploma/GED and one to two years related experience or training
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, nationals of the United States, asylees and refugees) due to access to export-controlled technology
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak the English language: interpret and follow written procedures, complete documentation, and follow verbal instructions
- Basic math and computer skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of measuring instruments, such as scales, micrometers, venires, calipers, dial indicators/ surface plates, surface testers, etc.
- Analytic skills
- Ability to pass drug/alcohol testing required as this is a FAA covered position
- CNC Machinist Technical Certificate desired
- Must be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
