Job Summary
We are seeking a Machine Shop Lead who already has experience being in a lead role or someone looking to take the next step in their career. The candidate will spend most of his time on lead duties, mentoring and troubleshooting. Candidate should have worked on mill and lathe at a minimum, mill-turn is a plus.
Job Description
- Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations, and/or setup operations
- Identify, produce, and gauge a variety of threads
- Measure, mark, and otherwise indicate the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining
- Select, align, and secure the holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines including mills, lathes and grinders
- Calculate and set controls to regulate various machine factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut
- Start and observe machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust the machine controls or control media as necessary
- Verify conformance of the finished part to ensure that it meets specifications
- Perform routine quality checks on each team member
- Perform daily maintenance duties and/or notify the supervisor of any equipment-related issues that may require attention
- Maintain a clean and orderly shop
- Maintain machine schedule for jobs and preventative maintenance
- Track output to ensure efficiency of production
- Maintain a daily routine operator checklist
- Train team members on new equipment when necessary
- Meet weekly with supervisor to provide updates and feedback on shop
- Comply with all company policies, rules, guidelines and behavior expectations
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Skills Required
- Four years machining experience and operation of CNC machinery (mills, lathes, etc)
- Ability to interpret blueprints, drawing, specifications and determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Skilled in making N/C program changes.
- Skilled in the use of measuring tools and equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, thread gauges, and plug gauges, air gauges, and optical comparator).
- Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers.
- Excel in a fast-paced work environment
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Diploma
- Trade or technical school training (Preferred)

- Adhere to all PPE requirements
- Manual dexterity and sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and crouching
- Visual acuity to complete precision machining and to read printed and electronic documents
- Lifting and/or exerting of force up to 50 pounds frequently and team lifting heavier items
- Frequent driving of motor vehicles or mobile equipment
