The Loss Prevention Camera Surveillance Specialist monitors surveillance camera systems overnight for Retail, Campuses & other Goodwill locations. This role creates reports, provides exceptional customer service, observes and reports conditions and incidents to Loss Prevention representatives and Law Enforcement with a high standard of alertness, responsibility, and confidentiality. The Loss Prevention Camera Surveillance Specialist assists the Loss Prevention Team in preventing incidents concerning Goodwill locations during overnight closing hours, pays attention to details and camera alerts. The ideal candidate has a sense of urgency and quick decision making and good communication skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. In a non-Security Officer role, provides professional overnight surveillance and partnership to the Loss Prevention team and Law Enforcement. Focusing on protecting Goodwill buildings and employees during overnight hours.
  2. Provides excellent and professional customer service to all employees and guests in person, phone or email.
  3. Answers company overnight cell phone in a professional manner and ensures cell phone is always charged.
  4. Alertness to incoming camera motion alerts and urgency to verifying alerts for possible burglary, break-in, vandalism, other incidents, contacting Loss Prevention Manager and Law Enforcement on any verified observed incident.
  5. Contacts Facilities for any repairs needed to related to an incident that occurred; burglaries, vandalisms, etc..
  6. Uses effective, detailed and professional written communication skills to prepare Incident Reports, Daily Activity Reports, e-mail communications, and all other required forms, logs and reports.
  7. Assists Loss Prevention team with special projects and assignments
  8. Multi-tasks operating camera systems during shift. Basic trouble shooting camera issues and partnership with Information Technology department. Making sure all camera systems are working properly
  9. Maintains overnight surveillance log; Keeps an organized and updated work binder.
  10. Assists with training new hires of Asset Protection Camera Specialist position and ongoing development.
  11. Effectively de-escalates difficult or aggressive individuals in a professional manner.
  12. Communicates in details to Law Enforcement and Loss Prevention Manager of incident observed that is being reported so that a quick response can be done with minimal confusion.

Education & Experience
  • 1-2 years of security or Loss Prevention experience preferred.
  • DVR Camera System knowledge required. Knowledge of DVR camera systems: Verkada, Transendent, Blue Iris preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Ability to write reports, emails and camera log effectively.
  • Ability to communicate with Law Enforcement in a clear detailed manner.
  • Ability to deal quickly with problems in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to distinguish objects at a distance and up close.
  • Must have basic knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, Teams and E-mail.
  • Other software / systems - Security surveillance camera systems, including Verkada, Transcendent, Blue Iris.
  • Background and drug screen required.
