How You Can Make an Impact

Mill Rock Packaging is excited to start the search for a Logistics Supervisor. This position is located onsite at our Renton facility, reporting to the Services Manager. As a Logistics Supervisor, you will lead/be responsible for managing all aspects of our supply chain operations. You will be a strategic partner to the logistics and services team.

A Day in the Life:

  • Supervise and coordinate all logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution.
  • Plan and schedule inbound and outbound shipments to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and freight forwarders to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of materials and products.
  • Monitor inventory levels and track shipments to ensure accuracy and minimize stockouts and overstock situations.
  • Monthly report reconciliation of freight invoices, carrier bill of lading and job costs and work with accounting to reconcile.
  • Responsible for hiring, conducting performance reviews, counseling and issuing discipline as needed following company guidelines.
  • Plans, schedules, assigns and reviews work of team members.
  • Approve all overtime and ensure labor costs are within the annual budget.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all logistics personnel.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve logistics performance, such as on-time delivery, fill rates, and transportation costs.
  • Train, mentor, and provide guidance to logistics team members to ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities and perform their duties effectively.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in logistics operations and implement best practices to optimize efficiency.
  • Work close with services and sales to support optimization of production processes and minimize finished goods inventories, emphasizing a lean approach to operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies related to logistics operations, including transportation, hazardous materials handling, DOT and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to logistics activities, including shipping logs, inventory records, and regulatory filings.
  • Follows all safety policies of the organization and actively participates in various safety programs and initiatives.
  • Follows all the organizations policies as laid out in the Employee Handbook.
  • Follows all GMP requirements aligned with the organizations ISO certifications of ISO9001, 14001 and 22001.
  • Attend ongoing in-house quality, safety, and organizational required education and training.
  • Implements programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
  • Assists with planning and implementing plant improvements, layouts, and expansions.
  • Attends supervisor/production meetings as necessary to maintain relationships and provide feedback.
  • Perform other duties as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

The employee must be able to stand or sit for 4+ hours. The employee must be able to regularly lift/or move 30 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,000 to $82,000/year. Pay is based on a variety of complex factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position, other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of robust medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and life insurance benefits.

Capabilities & Experience:

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of international shipping requirements.
  • Ability to initiate and negotiate freight proposals and contracts.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and applications associated with the performance of assigned work.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, supply chain management, logistics or a related degree.
