The Job
The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for the coordination and movement of international and domestic freight and accurate preparation of export documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine best method for shipment to ensure on-time delivery as well as cost efficiency
- Coordinate and monitor the movement of import and export containers from start-to-finish
- Track import inbound containers from U.S. port of arrival to destination
- Prepare international export and/or import documentation per specific requirements by destination (including bill of lading, dock receipt, consulate documents and distribute documents to required personnel)
- Prepare important documents for customs
- Respond to shipment inquiries and complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Identify shipments at risk of late arrival and work with internal team as well as external vendors to mitigate the issue and ensure on-time delivery
- Communicate with internal and external customers using multiple tools including e-mail, Zoom, Teams, etc.
- Maintain communication with customer(s) and/or internal sales representative on shipping date, anticipated delays, and any additional information needed by the customer, through delivery completion
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience in transportation including domestic and international import/export
- Expertise in international shipping documentation and requirements
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
