Salary Range [ $100,000 - $130,000 ]
SUMMARY
Oversight of business process and supplier strategy for logistics, warehousing and distribution for Pelican products on a worldwide basis. Engages with geographic leaders and business partners and drives the process of continuous improvement across the integrated supply chain and drives efficiency improvement and cost productivity enhancements across the business.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transportation management, negotiating contracts with the carriers, managing relationships with the carrier, monitoring volume commitment per contract.
- Drives improvements to reduce the recurring costs of business for Pelican including routes, FTL/LTL minimization, etc.
- Engages the customers to understand their transportation needs and provide the best solutions mutually beneficial for Pelican and the customer and minimizing to the degree possible customer will calls and pick up’s at 3PL locations etc.
- Manages 3PL provider and works with warehouse leadership teams to analyze trends, improve efficiencies and drives overall 3PL performance in an effort to maximize on-time delivery and customer satisfaction, reduce costs, compress lead times and implement corrective actions to resolve issues.
- Keeps current and implements new technologies to improve shipping, receiving and warehousing efficiencies.
- Develops value-add service solutions to enable Pelican to compete in served markets.
- Develops and administers programs to determine the most advantageous and economical methods of shipment for company products.
- Prepares the budgets for 3PL operations and for freight across Pelican both freight in and freight out.
- Supports and leads the process for establishing new customers, determining logistics, labeling requirements, etc. and deploy in a timely manner.
- Works with and supports new product development activities as related to freight and logistics.
- Works with and supports customs compliance processes and ensure needs of Pelican are consistently met and restrictions are understood and deployed.
- Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Oversee the entire process of a shipment, from acquisition to delivery.
- Collaborate with peers to implement and improve current processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- In-depth knowledge of warehousing and inventory management procedures through accreditation by a technical or vocational college and/or five or more years’ experience at a supervisory/managerial level.
- Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills, be detail-oriented and be able to work under minimum supervision.
- Must have excellent written, negotiation, presentation and verbal communication skills.
- Must be proficient with Word, Excel, MS Project and/or other appropriate software.
- Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills and interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
- Must be certified to drive powered industrial trucks, including, but not limited to, forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.

- Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ensures that staff is contributing at maximum potential through rigorous hiring practices and an emphasis on training and development initiatives, including coaching and counseling direct reports in their performance and professional development, for approving the proposal of pay increases, hiring decisions and disciplinary actions.
- Emphasizes ethical leadership and decision-making to protect Pelican’s brand and reputation.
- Establishes challenging, productive and achievable goals for direct reports; measure results by establishing checkpoints to track progress.
- Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
The approximate base compensation range is shown above. The actual offer may vary based on skills, experience and location.
