Job Title: Transportation Coordinator
Position Type: Manages the transportation and delivery
of product to all customers
General Job Description: The Transportation Coordinator is responsible to manage all functions related to the shipping and delivery of all Fusion orders to customers. They serve as a key management team member, focused on supplying excellent customer service to vender partners and customers. The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for tracking orders from the time they are received to their completion, assuring timely and efficient delivery.
Their duties are detailed below.
Essential Functions:
· Responsible for all activities related to truck routing
· Request and manage truck delivery quotes. Based on the truck quotes received, book all trucks for delivery
· Confirm all delivery rate quotes via email
· Create and manage all truck folders
· Coordinate with Bookkeeper to verify all freight bills for correct pricing and all additional charges related to shipping (pallet charges, lumper charges, etc.)
· Confirm delivery of all trucks and all orders
· Responsible for the management of all plant labels and tags (UPC and picture tags)
· Ensure that all tags and truck packets are taken to the nurseries prior to shipping
· Meet with all primary transportation companies to establish contracts and delivery standards
· Walk the Nursery docks to ensure quality and size of plants being shipped
· Ensure that the proper labels and picture tags are on each plant prior to shipping
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Supervise the assistant Transportation Coordinator, as well as any seasonal personnel.
Leadership:
· Provide supervision to others through motivation, direction, review and feedback of assigned tasks.
Supervision:
· General Direction: receive general guidance with respect to overall objectives; work is usually quite independent of others; operate within division or department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
· Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
· Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Knowledge Requirements:
· Horticultural/Transportation Knowledge preferred
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Operations:
· Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity, word processing, Excel spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
Planning/Organization:
· Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Travel:
- Minimal car travel in the Willamette Valley area, to make deliveries and errands
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $21.42 - $25.79 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
