Form of workMeador Staffing is working with a credit union in the Houston area on their search for an Underwriter to join their team! This is a full time, temp to hire position with a company that offers GREAT benefits upon permanent hire!

Job Description of the Underwriter:
Review and decision all loans for compliance with underwriting standards.
Review indirect loans and documents for accuracy and additional lending opportunities.
Work closely with sales staff.
Reviews and evaluates information on consumer loan documents to determine if buyer, collateral, and loan conditions meet credit union and government standards.
Approves or rejects loan application or requests additional information, following assigned underwriting guidelines and procedures.
Evaluates acceptability of loan for credit union, ensuring meets all required policies.
Assembles documents in loan file, including acceptance or denial, and returns file to originating loan department, including electronic files.
Records loan rejection, specifying investor and credit union guidelines and basis for declining application and completes proper compliance documents.
Ensures Credit Union and government standards met at all times ensuring accuracy on all documents with zero errors.
Maintains a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers.
Maintains good working knowledge of Credit Union and government standards through continued education and research.
Hold all financial transactions of the Credit Union and its members in strict confidence.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements of the Underwriter:
2-5 years of similar or related experience in underwriting consumer loans
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
