Duties:
- Evaluate and assess loan applications to determine creditworthiness and risk levels
- Collect and analyze financial data, including credit reports, income documentation, and tax returns
- Review loan documents and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations
- Conduct quantitative analysis to assess loan performance and portfolio risk
- Collaborate with loan originators and processors to gather necessary information for underwriting decisions
- Make recommendations for loan approvals or denials based on risk assessment and analysis
- Monitor and review existing loans for compliance with terms and conditions
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and changes in underwriting guidelines
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an underwriter or in a similar role within the banking or mortgage industry
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and regulations
- Proficient in data collection, analysis, and quantitative research techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex financial information
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with loan originators, processors, and other stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and make sound underwriting decisions within established guidelines
- Familiarity with loan origination systems and mortgage servicing platforms
- Knowledge of portfolio management principles is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,500.00 - $55,000.00 per year
