JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE
As the Loan Officer you will be responsible for developing new business, underwriting, structuring and the closing of all loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio. They must be able to identify and analyze customer needs and desires so that they can adequately recommend products and services that best match their needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position performs the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Informs prospective loan clients of the bank's guidelines and applicable government regulations.
- Evaluates loan requests based on bank policies and makes loan recommendations to management.
- Orders credit reports, background checks, reference checks and other information as needed on loan applicants.
- Prepares loan packages, in accordance with bank standards and in a timely manner.
- Handles inquiries from applicants and branch personnel. May assist in resolution of customer issues.
- Manages delinquent account files for the financial institution.
- Promotes and participates in the bank's special credit programs and other CRA programs.
- Satisfies scorecard production requirements determined by management.
- Represents the financial institution in public relations activities and community affairs.
- Performs other duties assigned by Regional President, branch manager and other executive management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related area, preferred but not required.
- Three to five years experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.
- Above average sales, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with customers and employees regarding the bank's products and policies.
- Ability to read and comprehend training materials, bank communications and related loan manuals.
- Ability to learn and follow all bank policies.
- Willing to travel as needed for training opportunities
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other common PC-based software.
