JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE
As the Loan Officer Trainee you will train in various departments of the financial institution to become familiar with bank environment and to perform functions of a Loan Officer. Learning responsibilities for developing new business, underwriting, structuring and the closing of all loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position performs the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Trains in various departments of the financial institution to become familiar with bank environment and to perform the following functions of a Loan Officer:
- Soliciting all types of loans,
- Evaluating loan requests and making loan recommendations to management,
- Ordering credit reports, and other information as needed on loan applicants,
- Preparing loan files, in accordance with bank standards and in a timely manner,
- Resolving customer complaints and handling inquiries from applicants and branch personnel,
- Managing delinquent account files for the financial institution.
- Reviews bank policies and procedures regarding lending and other areas of the bank.
- Becomes familiar with legislation and regulations affecting a financial institution, particularly with regard to lending.
- Participates actively in local business and community activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by senior lending officer.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related area, preferred but not required.
- One to two years experience in a financial institution or loan office setting.
- Above average sales, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with customers and employees regarding the bank’s products and policies.
- Ability to read and comprehend training materials, bank communications and related loan manuals.
- Ability to learn and follow all bank policies.
