GENERAL SUMMARY: Manage and perform duties relating to planning equipment and drivers to provide the best combination of asset utilization and customer satisfaction. This position requires regular contact with all operations team members and reports to the Load Planner – Team Lead. An effective Load Planner displays outstanding communication skills, exercises critical thinking skills, and exhibits sound judgment to make effective decisions under pressure. This position requires promoting a system’s thinking approach to problem solving.
Load Planner
- Primary responsibility is to match trucks with loads to meet or exceed operational goals and maintain customer satisfaction while respecting driver home time requests and maintaining compliance with applicable FMCSA/DOT regulations.
- Collaborate with other Team Leaders to meet operational goals
- Identifies where additional freight is needed
- Monitors trailer pools and idle trailer report
- Maintains directions and location code files
- Monitors service failures and detention time
- Expert in company policy and procedures
- Expert on all customers policies, procedures, and expectations
- Software skills leader
- Knowledgeable in DOT/FHWA/FMCSA and applicable state and local rules and regulations.
- Main point of contact between brokerage operations and truckload operations
- Advise Customer Service Representatives regarding company policy.
- Maintain safety standards and compliance with all company policies and applicable local, state and federal regulations. Including but not limited to: average miles per driver per day, deadhead, home time, driver assist/unload, routing, revenue per mile.
- Work with other Team Leaders to determine root cause of service failures and complete reporting.
- Report all accidents to Safety Department as needed.
- Provide feedback to any direct reports regarding performance, including periodic performance reviews working with Human Resources as appropriate.
- Collaborate with other Team Leaders to determine how to best meet customer demand and productivity/revenue goals.
- Minimal direct interaction with drivers.
Requirements:
- Considerate and professional behavior in all communication.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment that requires multi tasking ability.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is helpful.
- 2 or 4 year degree a plus.
- Minimum two years of transportation operations experience.
- Ability to work day shift Monday-Friday.

Pay: $35,955.71 - $69,152.65 per year
