Job Description
EVER FEEL LIKE YOU’RE NOT BEING SEEN AS THE ATTORNEY YOU REALLY ARE (OR COULD BE)?
Speak to anyone who works here, and they will tell you this law firm is different. We manage our practice—and our people—with empathy, kindness and emotional intelligence. Our sweet spot is the candidate who is underutilized, who for some reason has not been given the responsibility they could otherwise handle, who can do more and is ready to excel.
The downside? We work hard, really hard. This is not a job for someone who wants to quiet-quit. We are serving the needs of our clients, and those needs are immediate, varied and full of obstacles.
And we don’t stop. We are relentless in protecting those who come to us for representation. Their needs must supersede our own (within reason).
In other words, we are looking for people who are ready to ignite their career. We offer an unusual amount of in-house training, supported by non-attorney staff who are treated as thinking, competent professionals, and we provide our attorneys with the capacity to grow faster than they might otherwise think possible.
We largely limit ourselves to one area of legal practice: commercial law. We try to stay away from the consumer areas, such as matrimonial, criminal defense and personal injury. Accordingly, we have three practice teams: commercial transactional, commercial litigation and attorney ethics defense. We can discuss them at length with you, but for now, here are some useful links that will provide an overview:
• Our commercial transactional practice
• Our commercial litigation practice
• Our attorney ethics defense practice
Admittedly, we are not for everyone; in fact, we are probably not for most. In order to do well in this job, you will need a passion for the law, a sense that you have picked the right profession for yourself and that it is purposeful and honorable to spend your time serving clients in need. Are you ready to do things better than you think you can, to spend more time and effort than some of your friends and colleagues may have been called to do in their respective positions, to basically matter more as an attorney in the scheme of things?
In short, are you ready to exceed yourself?
If this all resonates, please send us your resume and transcript. We require that you be a member of the NJ Bar and a graduate of an ABA approved law school. [PLEASE NOTE: A Master of Laws degree from an ABA approved law school is NOT an acceptable substitute when the J.D. degree was earned at a non-accredited law school.]
Kindly send everything to gdn@gdnlaw.com with a copy to da@gdnlaw.com.
Pay: $85,000 - $135,000/ year
