We are in search of an intelligent and motivated individual to collaborate closely with our software and hardware development teams, overseeing and enhancing our fundamental trading systems and processes. The primary responsibilities include real-time system monitoring, response to outages, tool development for managing an expanding range of systems, and close collaboration with software and hardware engineers, as well as traders and quants, to identify issues and enhance system efficiency.
Please note that this role does not involve development tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize proprietary monitoring tools to proactively observe systems for issues and performance fluctuations.
- Assume primary responsibility for outage management and follow-up with stakeholders.
- Explore new server technologies, identifying optimal configurations to reduce latency and enhance overall trading application performance.
- Employ SQL for system configuration and conduct comprehensive data analysis from diverse sources to contribute to a holistic understanding of system performance.
- Work with developers to deploy new servers and applications, reconfigure existing systems, and track system changes.
- Collaborate with the IT group to procure, test, and configure production and test hardware, while planning for future system needs.
- Automate existing procedures to streamline support problem resolution, minimize configuration errors, and enhance system transparency.
- Work closely with developers and analysts to configure, test, and validate new strategies and deployments.
Qualifications:
- A STEM or STEM-adjacent degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in an engineering/IT, DevOps, or systems-related role.
- Demonstrated initiative to take ownership and resolve time-sensitive problems efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Linux systems/server configuration, including kernel tuning.
- Strong scripting skills for automation and day-to-day problem-solving.
- Effective and clear communication skills, capable of conveying concepts to individuals with varying technical abilities.
- Eagerness to engage with business domain concepts and apply a diverse spectrum of DevOps skills to solutions.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in the trading industry, including familiarity with exchange protocols and order lifecycles.
- General operations knowledge, including TCP and relevant networking tools (Wireshark, tcpdump), Linux systems and OS-level configurations, advanced SQL concepts, and general server management/infrastructure.
