Overview:
We have an opening for a Protective Force Lieutenant in support of the Laboratory Protection Division at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. In this role you will handle the day to day supervision of operations activities for a team of security professionals in providing defensive protection of personnel, property and other assets against theft or sabotage at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the first line supervision of shift operational activities on daily basis ensuring security requirements and manpower are being utilized in protection strategies
- Respond in an effective, aggressive and timely manner to safeguards and security alarms, infractions, and emergencies, develop resolution plans and contingencies
- Patrol and protect facilities to deter or prevent
- Schedule, monitor and ensure shift personnel maintain training and are fit for duty such that enables them to respond, observe, and report adversary threats
- Monitor the performance and supervise protective force personnel in assigned crew
- Report any violation of security, property or safety concern
- Make decisions daily about security operations, conferring with Shift Captain, Major, and Group Leader as required
- Maintain familiarity with and the proper use of all assigned equipment
- Ensure shift personnel have all required equipment
- Understand and implement departmental and site policies and procedures governing post and patrol operations and access control systems
- Maintain a working knowledge of all applicable security orders, federal laws and DOE orders

Basic Qualifications:
- An Associate's degree with a minimum of five years experience in the security field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Able to complete, obtain, and maintain all certifications for all training requirements, such as firearms, use of force, defensive tactics, etc.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program. In addition, due the SCI, you may be also be subject to random polygraph testing.
- Be able to meet DOE physical fitness standards as required by 10 CFR 1046. Incumbent SPOs are required to perform a ½ mile run with a maximum qualifying time of 4 minutes and 40 seconds and a 40-yard prone-to-running dash with a maximum qualifying time of 8.5 seconds. Candidates outside of Pro Force will be required to perform an initial 1 mile run with a maximum qualifying time of 8 minutes and 30 seconds and a 40-yard prone-to-running dash with a maximum qualifying time of 8.0 seconds as a condition of employment.

- Bachelors Degree
- Experience as a DOE Security Police Officer
