The Licensing Specialist is part of the Medical Support Staff team and is responsible for data entering, gathering, and primary source verification of healthcare practitioner information, including in-depth, detailed, or challenging research of information. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about Healthcare Administration who wants to learn and gain experience in the licensing field for physicians.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a liaison between the medical board and the provider when applying for a license, obtaining updates and reporting progress.
- Assess state requirements, interpret licensing applications, and facilitates completion of applications.
- Partner and follow up with external customers to complete the licensing process
- Utilize communication skills to obtain necessary documents, completion of deadlines, and partner with operations and medical staff services department
- Negotiate with licensing parties to ensure timely processing.
- Assist in resolving licensing issues as needed.
- Ensure providers are licensed to practice in the state they are hired to work in.
- Comply with operating policies and procedures including the facilitation of license requests and use of company resources.
- Assist with resolution of provider issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of all licensing and provider information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or experience in lieu of education
- A minimum of 2 years of administrative or equivalent work experience is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have strong computer, typing, and data entry skills: includes MS Word, Excel and web-based applications, internet, and database programs.
- Detail oriented with ability to recognize vital information from verification documents.
- Possess proof-reading skills sufficient for auditing documents.
- Ability to prioritize well and meet overlapping deadlines.
- Demonstrate problem-solving, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills.
- Ability to consistently maintain quality and production expectations.
- NAMSS Certification (National Association Medical Staff Services) is a plus.
