Job Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse - Cardiology
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our Cardiology team. The LVN will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, assisting with cardiology procedures, and supporting the management of cardiac patients under the direction of the healthcare team.
Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Monitoring:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including cardiac health history, vital signs, and EKG monitoring.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, recognizing and promptly addressing changes in patient condition.
Assistance with Cardiology Procedures:
- Assist cardiologists and other healthcare providers during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as stress tests, echocardiograms, and cardiac catheterizations.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and ensuring their comfort.
Medication Administration and Patient Education:
- Administer medications as prescribed, including cardiac medications, and educate patients about their purpose, dosage, and potential side effects.
- Provide comprehensive education to patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications.
Collaboration and Documentation:
- Collaborate with the cardiology team to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Supportive Care and Follow-up:
- Offer emotional support to patients and families coping with cardiac issues, guiding them through their treatment journey.
- Conduct follow-up assessments and communicate patient progress to the healthcare team.
Qualifications:
- Active LVN license in Texas.
- Previous experience in a cardiology setting or relevant clinical experience preferred.
- Proficiency in cardiac assessments, telemetry monitoring, and EKG interpretation.
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Additional certifications or coursework related to cardiology nursing.
