Job Title: LPNLicensed Practical Nurse
Reports To: Director/Manager PMRU
Schedule: can be 3x12s, or 5x8s, weekend requirements included
Job Summary: The LPN on PMRU is responsible for direct patient care to all patients within the department. The position will work collaboratively with all department members to implement and evaluate the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational and spiritual needs under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills are required as well as being able to interact with people from a variety of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Job Responsibilities: (Please limit this to 10 core responsibilities - as opposed to a total list of tasks)
- Ability to communicate in a clear and respectful manner with both patients and co-workers.
- Dispenses medication within scope of practice and accurately documents in patients EMR.
- Obtaining data related to patient care and recording accurately in the patients EMR.
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in mental, and emotional conditions of the patient to the RN. Examples include changes in vital signs, abnormal weight gain or loss, inability to locate a fetal heart rate, increase in pain, etc....
- Responds promptly to call bells and patient needs.
- Correctly supports and reinforces teaching done by the RN.
- Reports data collected for plan of care adjustments to be approved by RN.
- Appropriately stocks all areas of the department, including the unit and participates in unit PI as instructed.
- Knows how to appropriately perform physical care within licensure scope of practice.
- Appropriately and collaboratively works with hospital aides to prevent harm to patients while under care of LPN.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: Preferred but not expected
- Licensure: Current NYS LPN license.
- Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g. use of the computer keyboard) light lifting in regards to patient care. Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time as it pertains to patient care. Must be physically able to operate the equipment used for the job.
