Are you passionate about improving the lives of students with special needs? Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate LicensedPhysical Therapy Assistant to join their team. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in implementing individual and group treatments, developing therapeutic activities, and providing essential support to special education students in our least restrictive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Implement individual and group treatment plans for students requiring physical therapy interventions.
- Develop and present therapeutic activities tailored to benefit special education students, fostering their physical development in an inclusive environment.
- Review clinical records of students receiving physical therapy, ensuring completeness of data and accurate documentation.
- Maintain accurate attendance and anecdotal records for students undergoing physical therapy sessions.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary and parent conferences, contributing insights into student progress and offering recommendations for tailored therapy programs.
- Collaborate with school staff and supervisors, providing guidance on therapeutic interventions, appropriate use of equipment, and assessing students' functional levels.
- Consult with parents/guardians, outlining treatment goals and specialized recommendations to enhance students' functional abilities in both classroom and home settings.
- Coordinate the procurement of supplies and equipment required for the physical therapy program and maintain a comprehensive inventory of materials.
- Liaise with primary care facilities regarding students' medical needs, adaptive equipment requirements, ensuring continuity of services between school and home settings.
Requirements:
- Valid State NYS Physical Therapy Assistant license from the New York State Office of Professions.
- Associates degree from a CAPTE-accredited program.
- Prior experience in a similar educational or clinical setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to adapt and work within diverse environments and varying student needs.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping.
