JOB SUMMARY
As a member of our team, the LMHC will have the opportunity to help patients improve their Mental Health and overall well-being through individual and group therapy sessions. The LMHC must have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of Mental Health disorders, and the ability to build trusting relationships with patients.
PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS includes the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Conducts individual and group therapy sessions for clients with Mental Health disorders.
- Assesses and diagnoses Mental Health disorders using standardized criteria.
- Develops treatment plans and goals in collaboration with patients.
- Provides crisis intervention services when necessary.
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date and timely medical records.
- Coordinates care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Continuously educates oneself on new research and best practices in the field.
- Provides support and guidance to patient’s families and loved ones.
- Advocates for patients’ needs and wellbeing.
- Participates in regular team meetings to discuss ongoing patient care and receive support from colleagues.
The following are expectations of all WhidbeyHealth employees:
- Attends a minimum of 80% of monthly department staff meetings throughout the year. Actively participates in monthly department staff meetings, to include active participation in setting department goals and supporting department functions to meet set goals.
- Checks hospital email account a minimum of three (3) times per week.
- Utilizes AIDET in all interactions with patients, employees and visitors.
- Completes all mandatory education within given timeframe.
- Adheres to all hospital, department, and safety policies, procedures and guidelines at all times.
JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Satisfactory completion of a master’s or doctoral degree in Mental Health counseling, behavioral science, or a field related to Mental Health counseling at a nationally or regionally accredited institution.
- Satisfactory completion of a counseling internship or practicum with supervised direct patient care
- Satisfactory completion of WA State requirement for professional counseling under supervision, currently 3,000 hours of supervision in no less than 36 months.
- Passing score on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification, or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination.
Training and Experience
A minimum of one (1) or two (2) year experience as a LMHC
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- BLS required.
- Valid Washington state driver’s license, minimum state required liability auto insurance and reliable transportation required
- Active and Unrestricted WA State LMHC Licensure.
