SUMMARY:
The person in this position is responsible for assisting the Library and Media Center team in daily operations and working directly with students and staff. This person would work collaboratively with the Library, Media Center and Makerspace team.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Must be willing to work as part of a team to provide assistance with the Makerspace equipment, technology assistance, media assistance and supervision of students in the Library/Media Center.
- Must have excellent computer skills including experience using cloud-based computing applications such as Google Apps and a willingness/capacity to learn new software programs.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of Library/Media patrons.
- Must be patient, flexible, and student-centered.
- Must have completed 30 hours of college credit.
- Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred, but not required.
- Must have interest in media production and maker technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform a variety of duties, including but not limited to assisting in the following: assisting the Media department with video productions, maintaining equipment in the Makerspace, and processing and maintaining of Library/Media Center materials.
- Supervise and assist students in the Library, Media Center and Makerspace.
- Check out audio visual gear to staff and students and instruct them on how to properly use the equipment.
- Willingness to learn how to assist students in using tools, equipment, material and software.
- Contribute to the takedown and setup of studio, lighting, and livestream setups.
- Help staff and students with locating and checking out materials.
- Create displays showcasing Library materials and events (print and digital).
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
30 hours of college credit required. A BA degree in library science, education, film, media, video production, journalism, or communications with prior experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certification registered with Lake County ROE.
