Library Associate, Youth Services

The expected hiring range for this position is $38,834 - $47,700 annually.
Lee County Library System, a dynamic, forward-thinking organization, is offering enthusiastic, community-minded candidates the opportunity to become a part of the Library Associate-Youth Services team at the East County Regional Library. As a Youth ServicesLibrary Associate, you will plan and implement programs for children in the library and at outreach locations. You will also assist with programming for young adults. The successful candidate will be imaginative, team-oriented, dedicated, and customer service driven with a strong commitment to providing excellent library service and will have the ability to relate positively to a diverse population.
This position is located between schools: Lehigh Senior High School and Varsity Lakes Middle School.
The East County Regional Library is in Lehigh Acres, an unincorporated, fast-growing area of Lee County. This 31,000 square foot library opened in 2001. Its patron base is varied and includes people of all ages and backgrounds. On school day afternoons, the library attracts many middle and high school aged youth from the neighboring schools.

• Plan and implement library and outreach programming for children.
• Supervise staff and/or volunteers.
• Assist with library programs.
• Prepare appropriate library displays.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of the branch collection of materials.
• Assist library patrons with reference and readers' advisory questions using both print and virtual materials.
• Assist library patrons with electronic resources and internet use.
• Provide prompt and courteous customer service to patrons of diverse ages and backgrounds.
• Prepare purchase order request for minor equipment and supplies.
• Operate a variety of equipment.
• Knowledge of literature for children is preferred.

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college and two years of customer service experience.

• Prefer a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Prefer one-year related library experience.
• Experience with planning and presenting programs to children is preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.

• Spanish speaking is a plus.
• Exceptional communication skills is preferred.
• Ability to deliver an exemplary customer experience is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team is preferred.
