Library Associate - Marketing

Professional library work assisting in one or more of the service areas in the County library system. Employee assigned to this position will work in the Library Marketing & Communications team.Coordinates the marketing and promotion of various library events including large-scale event series, concerts, festivals, and small-scale events or programs. Creates and executes promotional campaigns and timelines that include various marketing and promotional tactics including social media advertisements, webpages, email and print promotions, etc. Conducts meetings to understand event goals and needs. Writes engaging copy for print, social media, and digital. Assists with other marketing and promotional needs of the library system as identified. Uses industry-standard graphic design tools (Adobe suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro) for creating and manipulating graphic images and designs to be printed in-house or commercially printed, posted to the library website, or on social media sites. Works independently and as part of a larger creative team. Promotes library events from initial concept through completion. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to use tools such as Meta Business Suite, Constant Contact, and Canva.

• Ability to work under the pressures of tight deadlines and changing customer demands in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas visually, orally, and in writing.

• Ability to learn and apply complex procedures and to utilize computer equipment, the Internet, and new technologies in performance of daily work.
• Basic knowledge of the services and operations of the library.
• Basic knowledge of standard clerical methods and practices.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and push or pull heavy objects.

PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS:Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to life and/or move excessively heavy objects. Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching and stooping. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Must be able to work occasional evenings and Saturdays.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, New Media, English, Communications, or related field. One (1) year experience working directly with the public. One (1) year of relevant experience in marketing and/or social media. Proficiency with Hootsuite and basic graphic design experience. One (1) year of library experience preferred.
