Library Assistant – Circulation; Part-time
Hours/week : Mondays 4pm-7pm; Fridays 9:00pm – 5pm; 2 Saturdays/month 9:30am –
5pm.
$13.00/hour
Tasks:
Staff Main or Children’s Department circulation desk; staff Lower Level Information Desk.
Assist library customers with information requests. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
High School/GED diploma and relevant experience; Associate’s degree preferred.
Excellent customer service skills; must work well with public; computer (Windows based)
skills a must. Must be comfortable using online resources to assist customers with
information inquiries. Ability to work in a busy environment and in contact with customers.
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk
and talk or hear, and see information displayed on computer monitors and in print materials.
The employee will need to stand and climb stairs; reach above shoulder height; and kneel,
stoop, crouch or squat. The employee is frequently required to handle, lift, or move library
materials weighing up to 35lbs; move book trucks weighing up to 125 lbs; and sit or stand at
a computer terminal for up to 4 hours at a busy public service desk.

All library positions require the following criminal background and child abuse clearances.
Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); Child Abuse History
Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse); and Fingerprint based
federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized
agent (FBI).
