Duties: The Librarian III operates in a diverse environment to help fulfill the mission, vision and values of the Library and the City of Pasadena by coordinating library services, leading library staff and assisting library customers in assigned division(s) and throughout the Library. Coordinates Collection Development system-wide. Provides oversight for the ordering of library materials. Oversees the Collection Development budget; works with Collection Services Specialist to expend funds and maintain accurate records; works with library vendors and establishes purchasing plans. Leads Collection Development Team; establishes purchasing targets. Assigns staff to selection and weeding areas; establishes regular weeding schedule.
Qualities: Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited college or university and minimum three (3) years relevant experience with increased levels of responsibility. Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate that the essential functions of the job can be performed. Preferred: One (1) year of supervisory experience
