What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $24.11 - $36.17 per hour. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
In this position you can expect to work on site at the City and County Building at 1437 Bannock Street in downtown Denver five days per week.
What You'll Do
The Office of City Council is searching for a Legislative Assistant. This position is at-will. The Legislative Assistant reports to the Executive Director and is the first point of contact for visitors to the Central City Council Office, and must have a highly professional demeanor and be accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment. Specifically, as the Legislative Assistant you will:
  • Respond to incoming calls directed to the City Council main office, provide assistance to callers, and manage email and all other correspondence from constituents
  • Oversee the reception area and other additional spaces within the primary office. Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of vital office areas
  • Provide staff, visitors, and constituents with general city information and information on City Council processes and procedures; respond to constituent inquiries and problems
  • Assist with the review of meeting agendas and the preparation of legislative packets; assist during meetings with research and retrieval of legislative records
  • Aid in enabling citizen participation in Council meetings
  • Determine office needs and order supplies and equipment; maintain inventory records, document expenditures
  • Provide administrative support to the City Council Executive Director and staff, which includes: arranging/coordinating appointments and meetings, scheduling conference rooms, serving as a liaison with Facilities Management and Technology Services for all work orders, maintaining office equipment, and distributing departmental mail
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Experience: Two years of experience performing office support work executing components of a specific administrative function(s) in the operations of an organization
  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One year of the appropriate type and level of education may be substituted for each required year experience
