Introduction
The Office of the State Public Defender (SPD) is currently recruiting to fill a Legal Secretary-Limited Term Employee vacancy in our Ashland Trial office.
Of special note regarding Limited Term Employment (LTE) employment with the State of Wisconsin:
- LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position, and do not lead to permanent status.
- Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.
- No more than 1039 hours may be worked in one year.
Position Summary
The Legal Secretary (LS) provides legal support to local office staff, such as ensuring the appropriate, timely and accurate processing of legal documents, and correspondence. In addition, this position is responsible for providing legal secretarial office coordination, while maintaining effective working relationships.
Salary Information
Starting salary will be $22.95/hour.

A criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications:
1) Providing administrative, clerical or office support (e.g. answering phones, greeting visitors, mail distribution, etc.)
