Position Summary
The Legal Secretary provides administrative/legal secretarial and support services to staff attorneys, the Attorney Supervisor, and the Chief Legal Counsel of the Department of Transportation, Office of General Counsel (OGC). This position performs a broad variety of complex administrative and legal support activities requiring initiative and independent judgment. These activities are frequently of a confidential nature requiring participation in, having access to, or knowledge of, matters dealing with the Department's strategy or position on litigation, arbitration, and contract administration.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range (02-12) with a hourly rate of $22.95 plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Qualifications
At the acceptable level, the applicant has experience performing each of the following activities:
  • Experience providing administrative support in an office environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook and Word, or a similar product, in a professional environment.
  • Experience valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive workplace environment.
In addition to the Acceptable response, the applicant has experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Experience providing administrative support in a legal setting.
  • Experience conducting research of administrative and case law materials.
