Description:
General Purpose of Position:The Legal Counsel role will provide legal support and advice on a wide variety of matters related to the Company's pharmaceutical business and operations. This position reports to the General Counsel, and is based in Mason, Ohio.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, relevant, and timely legal advice and services in support of the operations of the Company and its affiliated entities
- Promote legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the Company
- Analyze the impact and application of federal and state health care laws and regulations applicable to the business operations of the Company
- Draft, review and negotiate various agreements with business partners, customers, suppliers, and vendors
- Maintain and drive efficiencies related to contract lifecycle management and related processes and procedures
- Work with stakeholders to develop and maintain appropriate templates and work with business units to develop contract strategies and best practices to achieve business outcomes
- Assist in the development and implementation of Company policies and procedures and training programs
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Membership in a state bar association and, if not a member of the Ohio bar, be eligible to register for corporate counsel status in Ohio
- Proficiency in legal research and staying current on changing laws and regulations that apply to the operations of the Company
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at once, drive execution and meet deadlines
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Commitment to professionalism and ethical conduct, including ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information
Education and Experience:
- Law degree from an accredited law school, with strong academic credentials
- Preferred at least 2 yrs. experience assisting with legal matters for pharmaceutical or health care organizations
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Must have the ability to adjust focus for unplanned activities and other duties as assigned. Daily contact requires courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Required to sit, talk, see, and hear. Must use hands and fingers to operate computer.
- The work environment is indoors at the Company's headquarters. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
