Growing law office in North Pole with a robust federal and state practice seeks a mature, independent, highly organized, focused, and super motivated self-starter to join our growing team as a part-time legal assistant and receptionist. This position cannot be performed remotely. Strong oral communications and customer service skills are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Suite applications, and use of the Intenet and cloud-based file storage and applications. Also, will learn and regularly use online applications for client case management. Prior law office experience a plus. Fluency in a foreign language is a bonus for our immigration practice. This opportunity is anticipated to grow into a full-time position within the next 6 months for the right candidate with benefits. Training and mentoring will be provided for the right candidate who may be lacking in some of the requisite skillsets and experience. Duties primarily will involve providing legal support to attorneys in the areas of bankruptcy law, immigration law, public benefits (e.g., federal Social Security disability, VA disability appeals), real estate, and state and federal litigation support. Other tasks include scheduling prospective client appointments, communicating with existing clients, keeping the office calendar, courier duties, requisition and inventory of supplies, interfacing with vendors, light office upkeep, restocking of office supplies, and client file management. Alaska Notary Public commission required after hire with application and bond expenses paid by the firm. Assists paralegals with legal support duties as follows: Prepares and finalizes legal documents and exhibits, correspondence, and internal memoranda; files pleadings with state and federal courts and administrative agencies; records documents online with Alaska DNR. Other relevant duties as assigned. Estimated hours: 5-6 per day/20-30 hours per week; Core work hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Days and some hours can be flexible and negotiable.
