We are an established Omaha law firm seeking a full-time Legal Assistant. We practice law in multiple areas including business, real estate, estate planning and litigation. At this time, we are seeking an assistant to assist our attorneys with our growing practice. Collegial environment, looking to fill for the long-term. The right candidate will have knowledge of general Legal Assistant, litigation and support processes and technological proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic filing, document management, PDF conversion and PDF tools, professional communication abilities with clients, attorneys, court staff, and colleagues, and ability and desire to learn and develop as the firm and its attorneys and staff grow.
Responsibilities:
§ Upholding and contributing to a warm and courteous professional environment
§ Entering and reviewing time within firm software
§ Invoicing on a monthly basis, under the attorney and accounting direction
§ Assist in preparing legal documents, such as briefs, contracts, and pleadings by typing, proofing and editing documents
§ Assist in document review and analysis
§ Organize and maintain legal files and documents using electronic and physical file systems with accurate data
§ Assist attorneys in managing their calendars and deadlines as well as scheduling appointments, meetings and court hearings
§ Prepare correspondence and communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal matters
§ File documents with the court or other relevant agencies
§ Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases as request
§ Assist with maintaining Continuing Legal Education (CLE) transcripts and bar admission materials and memberships
§ Other duties commensurate with the position and abilities of the candidate as required to assist attorneys and firms to successfully represent clients in professional manner, with utmost confidentiality, integrity, and respect
Qualifications:
§ Minimum of two years as Legal Assistant or in-house legal department is required
§ Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
§ Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
§ Proficient in conducting legal research using various resources
§ Strong written and verbal communication skills
§ Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
§ Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe
§ Ability to learn and utilize the ProLaw software
§ Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
